Are you aware of how to properly care for your dentures? Dentures are highly effective tooth replacement systems designed to enhance your smile by filling in missing gaps left behind. However, you will need to exercise caution when handling them and clean them on a daily basis.
You should gently scrub your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a denture paste, or even a mild dish or hand soap. Regular toothpaste is too abrasive and may scratch your dentures. When you are not wearing them, soak them in a denture solution to keep them from drying out and warping. You should also brush your dentures to remove plaque and stimulate the flow of blood.
If for any reason your dentures should crack or chip, don’t try to repair them yourself. That job should be left to your dentist. If your dentures are painful or you are feeling pressure, have your dentist adjust or re-line them. Over time, the shape of your mouth will change, and you should see your dentist to have new dentures made. You will still need to see your dentist for regular cleanings and exams.
